Hey guys,

How about some recommendations for glue to fix those small pieces that sometimes come off during shipment?

Particularly the hackles off of the Napoleonic pieces from King & Country. I have two of them in a ziploc bag at the moment. Before I tried to glue them back on, I wanted to see what you guys use that works well.

Also, does anyone recommend any particular glue to assemble polyresin or plastic pieces?

Darrell! I attend twenty five shows a year and I always carry a tube of Crazy Glue with me. Every once in a while I have a casuality, and I`ve found that it gets the job done.

Depending on the part I will use CA glue with a kicker. I also try to drill and pin the parts if at all possible.

You might want to try a 2-part epoxy, too. Often it's sold as 5-minute epoxy. It has two parts, the adhesive and a catalyst, that you mix on a scrap of cardboard or plastic (that's how I use up the cards that come in the unsolicited American Express applications that I keep getting :D ). Once thoroughly mixed, you apply, and you have about 5 minutes to make adjustments until it sets enough to stand on its own, and for most brands, full cure is after 8 hours or so.

If possible, it's a good idea to add a pin for strength. Take your example of a plume that snapped. I would take a small drill bit, chucked into a pin vise, and drill a small hole in the plume, and in its contact point, then take a piece of wire, or a piece of a straight pin, cut to fit in both holes, and use that to provide strength in what was a weak joint to begin with.

Hope that helps and that it's not too daunting, but this illustrates how many collectors also become builders.

Prost!
Brad
