I wonder if anyone has been watching this on the Sundance Channel. It's Italy's most popular show and is a look at the Italian Mafia. It's somewhat similar to your typical Mafia series like the Sopranos but different. The leader of the family is thrown in jail and his lazy wastrel son (Gennaro) has to step up as his Mother and the family's top henchman (Ciro) try to toughen him. The acting is superb and the setting (Naples) make this a bit different than your normal Mafia movie or series. It airs every Wednesday at 9 for two hours (two episodes).

Yes, with subtitles. I know some people don't like that. My family won't watch anything that has subtitles.

People who avoid subtitles are limiting themselves by
missing out on a lot of excellent cinema experience.
I do not like limiting myself. That said, I really hate
dubbed dialog.

I haven't watched Gomorrah, but may give it
a try.

I have really been enjoying Gomorrah - maybe it is the "NJ guy" in me but I can't get enough.

It's fantastic. I have to catch up on yesterday's episodes. I know the first one focused on Don Pietro's wife, the Lady Imma. She's a wonderful actress and tough as nails!
