All good stuff. Don't forget Britains new Civil War ,WW1, Napoleonics, Crimean War, Indian Mutiny and Redcoats;Beau Geste has some nice new Napoleonics and WW1 sets coming out; Tradition has some nice new French Hussars etc. etc. There's more to the toy soldier world than K&C and these new K&C wanna-be companies.

Yep its all good stuff i agree.I like some of Britains civil war stuff and i like some of tradition's work.We are spoilt for choice right now and its only a good thing!.

You are right. So many choices my head spins. I envy you guys that can focus on one period and company. Everything catches my eye. I was going to get into K&C WW1 but I already have most of the Britains WW1 so I decided to stick with Britains. I like K&C FOB because it's unique and different and I'm going to try and squeeze some of that in.

I was thinking along the same lines, about adding a few of the FOB figures but I am tempted to get a few of the AR figures at the London show.
Trouble is the Napoleonics are too good to miss as well.

But its never easy.I am focused on K&C WW1/WW2.But i am forever tempted by a host of different periods and companys.ACW/Zulu/Napoleonic.Britains,Conte,Traditon you name it i've toyed with it.Theres a company called Asset miniatures who make wonderful WW2 Home front figures, including a small class of kids and their teacher all in Gas masks. It will be a miracle if i don't return from the show on the 31st with something i had no intention of buying!

Yes Rob, its a good time to be a collector. If manufacturers continue the improved quality and types of offerings, can you imagine what the future holds for us, OTHER THAN BEING COMPETELY BROKE.;) :) I have refered to this time period as being, perhaps, the "Golden Age".

I truly wish that the mfg. could spread the new issues out some. I know that they are under tremendous pressure from the masses to produce more, now. But ,as for me, my financial well is running dry, and I am sick, at the prospect of missing out on something I really wanted.........Michael

Andy called this period at the NYC Symposium the beginning of the Golden Age for Toy Soldier Collecting............

I wonder if he meant our gold in his pockets??? :p  :D

That is a good point,it really forces you tp pick and choose when you don't want to!

I believe that even with all the releases that are occuring - we still have several months to pick up these figures for our collections.

However, I believe thing like the Kaiser Staff Car will go quickly when released - so you do need to plan your purchases on what will sell fast.

At least the staff car is not a ltd ed so it will be around for a while.I reckon that will shoot up in value when its eventually retired.Although we are jumping the gun a bit as its not even released yet!.

Yes with a product run of say 3000 it should only be available for 2 or 3 years........like the last 2 Strictly Limited Sets.

Is that what the production run will be on the Kaiser Car? I heard Andy might already be retiring the Summer Panzer released last year?

Just an observation, I do not know actual production numbers.

This really is the golden age of toy soldier collecting. We have so many talented and accessible manufacturers, honest and friendly dealers, and the advantage of the web for communicating with fellow collectors. The quality and quantity of toy soldiers and accessories being produced is just amazing. Thanks to Andy and Gordon Neilson of K&C, Rick and James Wang of Figarti, Anna from Honour Bound and Beau Geste, Ron Leh of Sommerset and the many other excellent producers (Frontline, Tradition, Tommy Atkins, Toy Army Workshop, and many many others) I will be perpetually in debt! The one sad thing about the present golden age is the closing of such wonderful makers as Trophy, Imperial and Heco. Their wonderful efforts will be missed by collectors in years to come.
