I was looking at a site on the Taiping Rebellion of the 1850s/60s and found this photo of Gordon where he earned the name "Chinese Gordon" for his service in China.

The Taiping Rebellion would make a nice series for John. Lots of colorful troops.

Agree a new series, but my fear all these diversions WW1 etc, will interrupt the main game which I am hoplng will be Sudan. Just me being selfish. Cheers, Robin.

I like the one figure on the Osprey cover of the guy in the lower left with the turban. It looks like a Michael Perry drawing and one of his sculpture he has done in 28mm.

But I bet John's "to do" list is not as big as my "want from John" list.
