Doh!

Mistyped the title of this thread... oh well.

Amazingly, here is another one of these sets up for auction. Nothing like a big auction to "educate" the hoarders about the treasures in their midst.

I will also use this thread to post some pics of the Gordon HS sets that we just got... as soon as I can find or replace my esb cable.

I telephoned the Toy Soldier Gallery in upstate NY and asked them for more information on these sets that were supposed to have been custom ordered for that shop. Alas, they were as memory challenged as David Cowe himself on the subject.

Interestingly, the person that I was speaking to also claimed credit for having come up with the idea, obviously adopted by Imperial, to paint 4 different versions of the Bengal cavalry sets.

The hunt for more info continues...

:)

Special thanks to Drum for bidding on this set and then giving me the opportunity to buy it. There are just a handful of these around and I didn't think I'd ever land one. I took some shots of HS Gordons 1 today. Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures on the individual figures. We will just have to wait until Drum posts his shots of all four Heirloom sets.

Congratulations on the purchase!!! Very envious! What a marvelous set!

I'm very keen to see the four assembeled and photographed Drum :)

The real trick is getting the whole parade within the field of focus such that each figure is distinct and clear.

So far, I have taken dozens of group shots of my Cameron sets and I am only barely satisfied with my results. I have a new (used) Canon XT on its way and I will get some nice wide angle glass and have another go at the projects.

If I can make a light box big enough, I guess it would be kind of cool to see what results could be obtained with a Gordon and Cameron HS1 set parading together.

Well done, Dan and I will post a few of my disappointing shots today.

I certainly admire your patience in getting the perfect picture.

I think an interesting photo would be the Colour Parties of the four regiments (Being the two standard bearers and four colour sergeants) all together!

Hey Nathan,
I really appreciate your pics of the shop and your collection. Are you the guy from Australia that David was telling me about?

Here is an example of my best effort to date with a group HS shot. As you can see, it is far from satisfying.

I like my pics to be more detailed but there are just too **** many of them in these sets!

Here are some smaller groupings and comparison shots of the Cameron and Gordon Heirloom sets where the principle differences between these sets can be readily seen.

I am very much looking forward to a new photo session with these sets that will hopefully produce some better images for cataloging purposes. These will do for now, though.

Cheers,
Drum

Fantastic effort - I think you have done the world a favour by cataloging everything!

I might be the guy David was talking about, I was only speaking to him last week and I believe he mentioned yourself. I'm hoping to get back over there in the next month or two! My parents only just got back from NZ, visiting Greytown on the way bringing back for me some nice Sudanese to stand infront of a waiting Gordon Highlander volley!

I'm very very envious of your collection, it would have to be one of I believe three or so complete collections in the world?

If you have any doubles or want to offload any - I'm your man hahaha.

Cheers,

Nathan

Drum,

Yet another difference (although mine might suffer from a quick production in NZ), but none of the figures in my HS 1 Gordons have the green band around the helmet. I noticed that when I first opened the set, but wasn't sure if that was intentional. It looks like some of your HS1 Gordons have that and others don't. What is the count on that? How does it differ from the Camerons?

Dan

Dan, neither of the HS1 sets have the green band. What I pictured above is a mixture of comparisons between both HS1 and HS2 sets from each version.

The only figures in my pictures that have green helmet bands are from the HS2 versions of each set. Both of my HS1 sets have white bands.

x 2: Confirm that - only the troops in 'action' have the band.
