I shared this story with another forum member already, but that said;
Got a call from a customer who used to buy from me at the East Coast Toy Soldier Show/Hackensack, had a nice but sad walk down memory lane, he talked about my show displays, how mobbed my tables and that show overall used to be, how I appeared to have a million laughs with my Dad, on and on.........talked about Bill Lango, John Stengle and others who are no longer here.
It makes me appreciate all the fun times I had at shows, all the nice people I've met at them, including many of you forum members.
The first toy soldier show I ever went to was the NETSS Dedham show back in the early 1990's when I first got back into the hobby, it was mobbed, bought some great items there over the years, then when I went to work for Bill Murphy of Excalibur, I went to Chicago for the first time, then the East Coast Show, then MFCA in Valley Forge.
Those shows had a "vibe", you could feel the excitement in the building, table after table of toy soldiers. When I got into the business in the late 1990's, I attended close to 25 shows a year for a good 10 years, they were all mobbed, all busy, all full of joy and excitement, my Dad started coming with me to shows in 2005, we were always close, but getting to spend that time with him made us closer, we had a ball and a lot of adventures on the road, I got into one mess after another that would tork my Dad off, then we'd both laugh about it, some comical times for sure that I will always cherish.
I haven't been to a show in nearly two years, November of 2019 to be exact; I sincerely hope to get back to them in the Spring of 2022 once this COVID ****show blows over once and for all.
The conversation today just made me feel a bit sad is all......................................
