Earlier this week on a Dutch national tradingboard I came across a woman selling 11 American Civil War related books. She didn't post the titles but a picture of the books. I noticed James McPherson's Battlecry of Freedom was among them. As that book is on my wantlist I emailed her asking for the price. She asked €5 but said I could have all 11 for €27. That's $35. I thought it was cheap so just went for the package deal.

Today I got the package and here are the titles:
James McPherson - Battle cry of Freedom
James McPherson - Hallowed Ground
Joshua Chamberlain - Bayonet! Forward!
Jeff - Shaara - Last Full Measure
Shelby Foote - Chickamauga
Kenneth C. David - Dont know much about the civil war
Bruce Catton - Glory Road
Bruce Catton - Stillness at Appomattox
James Stokesbury - A Short history of the civil war
Henry Steele Commager - The Blue and The Grey volume 1
Davis - The Civil War: Strange & Fascinating facts

What do you guys think about these books? Did I do a good deal?

Cheers

IMHO, you got a good deal. As mentioned, at $3 per book, it's hard to lose, but your list includes at least 5 ACW 'classics', so your deal is even better than just the money angle. Good get. -- Al

That's a great deal. You have books from three classic writers: McPherson, Commager and Catton. I read all the Catton books when I was a kid. Try to get them all.
