Grace Lee Whitney who played Yeoman Janice Rand in the first eight episodes of Star Trek has died at the age of 85. Later on in life she had alcoholism problems. Her acting career effectively ended after Star Trek but the late Leonard Nimoy helped her to get back into acting and through her Star Trek experience was able to help others suffering from alcoholism.
