I was recently given a vast amount of Brittan lead soldiers. I will post up some pics in order to get some back history on these items.
I will also mention that I have no intention of selling this wonderful gift.
Help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum, Goldson! I guarantee you'll have fun!
The best way to find yourself in the toy hobby, cherish each and every one, as it means something special to you. Have fun researching and collecting!

Woldson,
Welcome to the forum and I will be watching for your pics.
Washington DC or State ?

This is about 60% of them.

I always liked them as a boy so she decided to give them to me

Thankyou Pat as well as all others for a warm welcome. I do look forward to learning more about one the hobbie/passions my Grandmother had. Peace

What a wonderful gift! I hope you enjoy them for a lifetime!

Welcome to the Forum, hope you enjoy yourself here among fellow

Welcome to the forum, and what a way to enter :) Some very nice pieces you have received.

Any questions feel free to ask away.

Welcome to the forum and that is a nice collection your grandmother gave to you. I am sure you will cherish the figures. Leadmen

Neat sets!

I'm not a vintage Britains expert, so I look forward to finding out more about these sets. What years are they from? Which are the 'hidden treasures?'

Welcome Woldson!
Beautiful collection what a generous Gran"ma. A legacy like that is to be cherished. You're a fortunate fellow.
I'd love to see more.

Nice collection, I know you will enjoy it and welcome to the forum.

I as well. My Grandmother was a truly wonderful soul.
At this point I want to know what this lady was up to in cherishing these toys. That is why I desire to know more about my gift.

I can post more pics, however, the last of my roof of my 1912 home is about to go on. I always find it odd to touch someones work that may not be even alive today.

They appear to be post WW2 sets. It is hard to say since Britains kept the popular sets in their catalog for years. You might see if you can find a copy of the Joe Wallis book, Regiments of all Nations

Do you know where your grandmother would have purchased them? Did she have them as a child or did she collect later in her life?

Unfortunately she has past some time back.

This is one reason I want to know what and how she did. I find it honorable.

My Mother is amazed at the collection and the limited information I have given her. If I can better understand the "varied" set that I have.....

I have noticed that much of the sets are horses. I do know how much she loved horses.

From the photos you supplied -- it appears that all are post war Britains sets (ROAN Boxes) -- made between 1947-1959 -- when the sets were reduced in number and the switch to window boxes occurred.
