I bought one of those fancy DVD/VHS combo units recently & am in the process of converting all my VHS tapes to DVD so I can save alot of space for more toy soldiers:D

I came across one that is truly excellent; I hadn't watched it in years. It is from the "Line of Fire" series out of the UK. It was only offered on VHS for N. America, but if you have an international DVD player, you can buy the UK DVD quite easily from Belle & Blade video. (or the VHS too).

Getting back to the content...outstanding presentation & analysis by the academic hosts from Sandhurst (UK military academy), great footage (the Rooskies shot alot of film), and outstanding color graphics of battle scenes that look like they came out of the latest video game.

Two favorite clips (I can't decide which I like more) are a) a long line of pow's trudging near a fleet of Katyusha's launching hail streams of rockets, & b) seeing another Katyusha from the rear unleash its barrage over a tall building, but one rocket clips the top corner of the building. (I can't imagine a Sturmtiger doing more damage)

I have seen the Berlin & Stalingrad tapes, and they are excellent. The series covers other battles such as Arnhem, Normandy, Bulge, etc. that may appeal to you as well.

If you are debating getting into the Berlin series of figs, check out this tape. If your juices aren't flowing by the end, it ain't gonna happen for you.

Feel free to contact me by email if you need more specific details or if you want to borrow my tape (it'll only be gathering dust now)

regards,

Yes i have this on Dvd and it is an excellant programme.Great graphics, voice overs etc and it really makes the conflict easy to understand.I have all of Line of Fires WW1/WW2 series and also want Waterloo and Rorkes drift.May i also recommend 'Battlefield' series which if anything is even better.I have recently watched Stalingrad and Berlin from this series and now as you said want to collect Russians!.

Rob, any idea as to why Cromwell is so slow to get that stuff in N.American format? People have been asking for Battlefields here for over a decade. I only have so many decades left. They were shown on PBS, had a limited VHS release, & disappeared

Its really strange with them.Very little info at all is forthcoming,i used to ring/email for release dates but they never gave me any.A couple of years back we had a flurry of dvds and then nothing since. Its weird because they were very popular tv progs.Guess all you can do is keep asking until you hear something.
