Boys and girls of the forum,

I just received a copy of a fine new publiucation from Osprey; "US Small Arms of World War II, A Photographic History of the Weapons in Action" by Tom Laemlein. This is one of Osprey's occasional hardcover "specials" that cover certain topics. This is a 246 page book that is just packed with great period photos of various US firearms in use. Most of the photos are new or are rarely seen. Most are very clearly printed and well captioned. The photos not only show the weapons, but offer a glimpse of the young men who weilded them, soldiers, sailors and Marines. Mr. Laemlein is the driving personality behind Armor Plate Press and is a noted author of articles and books on military ordnance. Each chapter features a short piece of the history behind the weapon that moves on to the photos. Chapters include; Handguns, Thompson Submachine Gun, M3 Grease Gun, Reising Submachine Gun, UD M42 Submachine Gun, M1 Carbine, M1903 Springfield Rifle, M1917 Enfield Rifle, M1 Garand Rifle, M1941 Johnson Rifle and M1941 Johnson Light Machine Gun, Shotguns, Browning Automatic Rifle, Browning .30 Caliber Machine Gun, and Browning .50 Caliber Machine Gun. For the price this book will be indespensible to the historian, military modeler or those with an interest in military firearms. This will be an excellent companion volume to Bruce Canfield's modern classic, "US Infantry Weapons of World War II". Highly recommended.

Mine was only about $21 USD via Amazon.com

Gary: Thanks for the tip on Shattered Sword book by Tully. I bought my own copy and also The Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors and Neptune's Inferno books by Hoftfischer. (spelling). I even registered on Tull's forum. I been more interested in naval history lately. John
