I saw Midway the other day and thought it was a solid effort, with particularly good special effects/CGI. Being in the back seat of a dive bomber would've been terrible. Or in any seat of a torpedo bomber...
Anyway, while it was a good watch on the big screen, it struck me how many impressive war movies have come out in the last few years. Roughly in order -
Hacksaw Ridge - that Japanese charge just sent shivers through me!
Dunkirk - some really gut wrenching scenes ie the sinking ship
12 Strong - macho (in the good way) action
Danger Close - brutal face to face battle in Vietnam
1917 - extraordinary scenes/settings
Any that I missed?
