Gentle Friends,

The April, 2006 (Issue #95) of Toy Soldier and Model Figure Magazine contains a review of a new line of Medieval Knights. This range is referenced as an "economy" range for those who are interested in a more affordable range of St. Petersburg type figures. They are produced by Granada Studio in St. Petersburg, Russia. The cost? $45.00 per single figure.

Has anyone seen these figures in person? The pictures in the magazine look impressive, but pictures almost always look impressive in the magazine. I would be very interested to hear any comments or evaluations of them by forum member(s) that have actually seen them. I just might be tempted to purchase some.

Warm regards,

Pat

Hi All,

I recently picked up a Teutonic Knight kneeling with drawn sword for my son that is from one of the Russian Studios but unsure as to which, and it is really great looking.

My question is also in regards to the manufacturers from Russia. I have been looking at some Turkish Janisarries from the Battle of Vienna to go with the Winged Hussar I have and I was wondering if anyone out there knows if there are unpainted castings available from any of these companies? I want to put at least a dozen foot soldiers and probably at least as many mounted Winged Hussars together for a display. I guess FUBAR is motivating me to build something on a grand scale. Any help would be great here.

We have carrying these figures now for over a year and the quality is excellent. They are highly detailed, very well produced, and the bases of the figures interlink to form a display. I would highly recommend the English Archers as an example of great work. Each figure is individually painted and is custom made, not mass produced, so there will be difference in each figure. This in my opinion adds to the appeal.

Mike,

Thanks for the information regarding the Granada figures. You mentioned that you highly recommend the English archers. Do the remaining figures match the archers in quality?

At any rate, the pictures on your site look grand! Now if I can only save enough money...you may be hearing from me in the future!

Warmest personal regards,

Pat
