Hi, while I have been doing some paint touch up for a while on my collection, I never painted an entire figurine end to end from scratch. Well with 2017 just starting this was part of my resolution list (not my bucket list yet :wink2:) and I can now scratch that one from that list! I just completed my first painting project. I chose to start with something not too small and since I like high quality sculpt, I went with the French Cuirassier FC/2 Trooper 1804-1811 kit from Poste Militaire. It took me nearly 4 hours to finish it and overall I am pretty happy with the result for a first attempt (even my wife who doesn't care too much of my collection thought I did a good job and she is my best critic!). I posted a few pics below (I know I still need to improve my eye rendering skills). On to the next one!

Welcome to the club Mon Ami - with a fine start. Very well done.:salute:: jb

[N.B. Tip - For good eyes, get yourself a Fine Line Black water and fade proof pigment pen, ( I use Mitsubishi - size 0.01 pen). A fine line over the top of the eye in a crescent shape - and a dot at the centre brings out the eye a treat).;)

Merci ! Thanks for the great tip (no punt implied :wink2:) I just ordered a few of these pens!

For a first, I like
A small guide to improve just a little
On the plume and the epaulettes, mix a tiny amount of white and red, put your brush in the mix, clean on paper, then on your finger, again, again untill it's almost nothing left, use the brush now perpendicular to the plume/epaullette and dry brush . do the same with black and white on the hairs . and you have your first step to shadowing/enlightening

Best

Thanks Mirof for the tip and also for the Poste Militaire catalogues (pic below) I downloaded from your great website! BTW I tried to contact the UK company that took over the PM castings but they are not responsive. Their website is still up but no response so far to the couple emails I sent them...
