Following on from the dancing girls we have another addition to the Pharaoh's daughters in the form of a delightful young girl drinking water from a sea shell.

In other news we will also be releasing some crews for a US artillery piece coming later in the year, there will be winter version crews for our Korean war series and summer version figures for WW2 and Indochina.

OK so our next competition is as follows: We have had tremendous success with Cleopatra and our Napoleon figures as and when they have been released. So which famous female or male figure from time would you like to see released by Thomas Gunn? Can be god or bad, real or fantasy, military or civilian. The winning suggestion will have their figure made and receive a free sample of that figure. We would look more favourably on a figure we have not made before and preferably one that no other 1/30 scale manufacturer has made, but don't let that stop you if you think your idea has merit and you think we could do a better job than the one made previously.
A short explanation of why you would like to see this figure made will win you more points!

Best wishes The Gunn Team

I have a few suggestions!

Lope de Aguirre - the Spanish conquistador and inspiration for the great Klaus Kinski movie.

Vlad III - No one has done a really good historical representation of Dracula.

Lizzie Borden - the rogues gallery of famous criminals would be great. Also this year is the 130th anniversary of her crime.

Roosevelt in a wheelchair: I don't think anyone has done this yet, and I think it would be both important and interesting.

Frederick Russel Burnham, Robert Baden Powell, Fredrick Selous, and Cecil Rhodes: All these famous scouts and British South African figures would make an excellent mini-series that would go great with existing BSA figures or work in various combinations in military or civilian settings.

Pliny the Elder: Aside from his own merits, I think he would make a fun Roman civilian figure in your ongoing series given his... size.

Les Amis de l'ABC: Given the popularity of Les Miserables, I'm astounded there are no figures currently on the market. A small set of the main characters at the barricade would be excellent for both collectors and fans.

I'm a big War of 1812 aficionado, so I'd like to see figures of Capt James FitzGibbon and LCol Charles de Salaberry.

FitzGibbon began his service in the British Army in the ranks. Major-General Sir Issac Brock, the British commander in Upper Canada who was killed in action at the Battle of Queenston Heights, took a personal interest in Sergeant FitzGibbon, and personally arranged for his commission to lieutenant (at no charge to Fitzgibbon). As an officer, FitzGibbon recruited volunteers who could ride horses from a British line regiment to conduct commando-style raids. Known as the "Green Tigers" and "Bloody Boys," this unit so frustrated the US Army that the Americans dispatched a 500-man force (including infantry, artillery, cavalry, and mounted infantry) to defeat FitzGibbon and his force. Laura Secord, a Canadian heroine, overheard the American officers talking about the operations and journeyed through the wilderness to inform FitzGibbon about the impending attack (Secord warning FitzGibbon in photo below left). This led to the Battle of Beaver Dams where Fitzgibbon personally convinced the entire American column to surrender to him. After Beaver Dams, FitzGibbon obtained his captaincy and transferred to command a company in the Glengarry Light Infantry. Here he was instrumental in developing light infantry tactics, and fought in several major battles.

De Salaberry joined the British Army at the age of fourteen. After serving in the West Indies and Europe, he returned to Canada in 1810. In Lower Canada, de Salaberry raised the Canadian Voltigeurs, with their distinctive bearskin caps and grey uniforms. De Salaberry commanded the Voltigeurs during the War of 1812. At the Battle of the Chateauguay, he led the British force that defeated the invading US Army and prevented the fall of Montreal (de Salaberry at Chateauguay in photo below right). This may be an apocryphal story, but as the US Army deployed into line, an American officer rode forward and demanded that de Salaberry surrender his force. Since the American did not ride forward under flag of truce, de Salaberry grabbed a musket form one of his soldiers and shot the officer himself.

There are a ton of Nazi figures in the toy soldier world. Maybe a couple of anti-Nazi martyrs:

Sophie Scholl (White Rose).

Georg Elser (tried to assassinate Hitler).

As TGM are releasing Korean War figures, what about figures from Mash, could have 'Hot Lips' but would draw the line at Clinger in his dress.
OR
What about below from the Battle of Britain,
