Just had a notice for return of a figure as purchased as a gift for friend and they already have this figure, this is over a week after it arrived, might be explained if he did give the gift until very recently. I wrote back OK, but he will have to pay the postage to return the item and i will give a full refund, as i would not pay for the postage for an error that i did not make. He said that was not fair, so i have replied let ebay decide, as he put in the message that the figure is in excellent condition and was delivered promptly. Googled it and on another forum which i read in these cases ebay generally size with the seller as they were not in the wrong.

sounds like buyer's remorse...
he should pay all postage...
or keep the item...

Have you thought about adding "No returns" to your terms & conditions, "All sales final"? It's a bit hard-a$$ed, but if you have it in your terms & conditions, it's there for the buyer to consider and decide. And it's a bit of a defense. This case sounds relatively harmless, that he really wasn't trying to pull a fast one, so it worked out. But the next time someone wants to return something, it might be easier to defend if it's in your conditions.

Prost!

Cheers, thought of that, but the amount i have ever had returned is so small not worth it. One tiny tiny grain in my mind is it will be returned damaged? There was a collector in the UK, not this guy, who was infamous for buying stuff and them claiming it arrived broke etc and sending them back, but really he was just replacing a damaged item he had. Was found out by a seller who advertised an item with a small paint chip missing and when he got it back the chip was not missing. His details got rounds dealers/sellers and he stopped it. The buyer could not have dome that as he bought multiple items from me.

We shall see when it is returned. I did have one returned a couple of years ago, was the T Gunn Japanese SP Gun, the guy did not like it because it was 'too light' in weight, but refused unless he paid the return postage and Ebay backed me up on that one.

I also know dealers who put a small ultrviolet light mark [bit like when the police tell you to mark your items so you can be traced if they are recovered] on figure bases or the underside of vehicles and he said he has had around 6 returned that were not the ones he sent out.

No returns is a joke on eBay. I have that in my listings and have still had to accept returns

Zack's right...

I have that on all my listings...
and while Ebay allows you to check that box...
they over ride that by allowing returns anyway...
I have been told this by several representatives before...

it's better than it used to be...
but it's still a buyer's market on Ebay...

the seller is their secondary concern...

I believe this happens with some regularity...

I think that is because they do not people selling the odd bit and bob, they want small businesses and resellers on there, seeking out volume.

If it comes back to you damaged, contact Ebay, send them pictures of the damage and they will step in and assist you with that.

Had someone about a year ago buy a K & C tank from me, they had it for over two weeks, then filed a return claim, some nonsensical BS about the paint job did not match the listing image, buyer insinuated it had been modified, not true, it was a standard factory paint job.

It arrived back to me piss poorly packed and had damage, I took photos, sent them to a customer service rep while I had her on the phone, she saw the damage, I did not have to refund the buyer, Ebay took care of it.
