Happy Birthday, indeed!
He was a good and decent man, by all accounts, and it pains me to hear the way he's often reviled on account of the way both his theory and his name are used in a way almost out of context. I can respect people who want to debate the origin of life and the processes behind it, but if I'm not mistaken, he was studying for the clergy at one point, and was a man of faith. It's a shame that his name has become more of a buzzword for people on both sides of the issues of science, religion and explaining where we came from.
So, happy birthday to the naturalist of the Beagle, and I hope you're resting well, prosit!
