So it will be a double celebration for you..............yeah, the old cracking of the eggs. One year my lamebrain cousin put an egg in the freezer to make it hard as a rock, but he didn't take into account the shell would be EASIER to crack as a result.................my grandfather used to put the egg in his huge hand with a tiny portion exposed, he'd murder everyone elses eggs......................the eggs were dyed red, not 400 different colors like the Catholics do.

we always had that one joker that would sneak in an un-boiled raw egg....
I remember...
Vasili Pappavasalio was high on Ouzo...
and got raw egg all over his suit...
thought he was gonna kill the guy...
another calm peaceful Sunday at the Greek Orthodox Church...

when I turned 13...
my dad asked me if I wanted to go to Church anymore...
I told him "no"...
he said you don't have to go anymore if you don't want...
I just wanted to give you a foundation...

that was the end of Church for me...

excluding wedding...funerals...etc...

I got dragged to church almost every Sunday as a kid, Sunday school and the whole bit, Easter Mass on Saturday night, got home at the crack of dawn, up, down, up, down, up, down..........................once I turned 21, that was it for me.

So we're in the same boat................

yea...
I did Sunday School too...
was even an altar boy...
I hated it...
10 years old...
used to always steal a sip of wine...
would sweat like hell in those heavy robes...
I don't know George...
the older I get...
the more I feel like I need to establish a relationship with God...
I entertain the thought of going to Church often...
but never seem to get there...
when I was a kid...
half the sermon was in Greek...
so other than knowing and memorizing the Lord's Prayer in Greek...
I had no idea what the priest was saying...
all I knew how to say was "give me a kiss"
and some curse words...
wish my father had taught me Greek...
he only spoke Greek to other Greeks and that was when he wanted use not to understand...

OMG!!!
yea...
I remember that...
that stand up...
sit down...
no...
don't sit this time...
kneel...
now stand up...
now sit down...
now stand up...
now kneel...
Gooooood Lawd!!!
hated that bell ringing...

it was a cardio workout...
best shape of my life...^&grin...
was like the whole congregation was following a Jack LaLanne video...

Wow! This topic was intended to share good feelings. {sm4}

Easter makes me remember chocolate bunnies, plastic dinosaurs, and horror comics (some of the things I seemed to get/buy around Easter time).

In any case, hope you guys enjoyed the day with family - which is more important than all the chocolate and jelly beans.

I used the better half of the morning to take down the old Tarawa display replacing it with a new desert village scene (must have been all the biblical movies over the weekend).

It's good to change things up from time-to-time.

You lucky fellows, you are complaining about going to church???.
I went to a catholic college run by priests
here is what I can tell you about going to mass
-twice a week at 08.00(compulsory with teachers surveillance)
-every week to confession
-every Sunday mass at 08.00 and singing in the college choir in the high mass of 10.30 hours
-school on Saturday morning
-on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons "2 hours of study" from 14.00 till 16.00 and every other day of the week "study" from 17.00 till 19.00 hours
I went to this college from the age of 6 till the age of 18, so after 12 years of going to mass 4 times a week, no more church for me ; but still .........
These were the good old days of discipline and respect
Guy:)
