As all of you gentlemen probably know, Supreme is a Chinese manufacturer of cheap plastic toy soldiers designed for children, not grown-ups. A couple of years ago, after my son godson insisted a thousand times he wanted Vikings for his birthday, I got him a bag of Supreme Vikings. What an awful lot!
:eek:

You see, I would'nt give a 6 year old a collection of Conte metal Vikings, but I expected at least a decent paint job, and Supreme was worst than that. Since I still had a couple of weeks before his birthday I decided to paint them myself. Here are the results:

I had a lot of fun painting them, and finally gave them a toy soldier look reminescent from my childhood I could be proud to give as a gift to anyone. I liked the results...
:D

Here is a comparisom between Supreme's paint job (on the right) and mine (on the left). Hope you like it!

I'm guessing nobody gives toy soldiers to kids anymore? Maybe you just don't care if the toy soldiers you give look nice?
:confused::confused:

Who, if not kids, will continue collecting after we're all gone?
:confused::confused:

I think you have made a very nice job of them. I don't have any children but I do have a couple of young nephews that I may get started collecting when they are older.

Uthred, I am glad you posted the before and after shots. Thy look much better. I am sure your godson will appreciate them all the more for having painted them.

Thanks britfarmer!

I don't have children, either, but I guess it's up to us starting a new generation on the joys of collecting toy soldiers, right?

Thanks, Michael!

I wanted to give them a "Britains Deetail" look. I used Vallejo Acrylics, that are not toxic, and he's been playing roughly with them for months now and they still look good!

That's a compliment on Vallejo's quality I guess: It's not every paint that survives the small and active hands of a 6 year old for a long time.
:D

I just painted up some myself after reading this post. Thanks for the idea. They aren't bad sculpts and they hold paint well. They are a little taller than the Conte Vikings, but not horribly so. I'll scatter them about in a mass formation attacking my Barzo Castle and they'll just look like extra large Norwegians.
