Just thought I share some photos of our sledding and snowboarding on Mauna Kea. A lot of folks don't realize the Big Island of Hawaii gets snow. Two peaks, Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa rise to a little below 14,000 feet. People drive up and load their pick ups with snow to bring back down to the warmer locations. Usually they are snow covered to about 12,000 during winter. The snow hasn't gotten as low as 8,000 feet. We were at the 12,000foot level here.

Aloha,

Larry

That's cool, I mean cold, I mean, how can that be????

Enjoy and Meery Christmas,

Haha--That's great!
I wish we could get some snow where I live, even if we have to truck it in.

Tex,

When I lived in Irving we would occasionally get a little of the white stuff. The whole metroplex would shut down - Texans are not equipped to plow or drive in snow.

That's very true. Last year, the temperature dipped below freezing in SA for two days and everything shut down. My parents didn't have to go to work and my school was closed. We have the occasional "Ice Day" like that one, but we never have snow days down here. (snowed south of us once, though ).

Well come on up to Minnesota and you can have your fill!

Yesterday we had snow and 40 MPH winds...which made it impossible to see. The drifts were impressive when it finished.

I love the snow...at least until March and I start hearing from the guys down south that they are in their pools....

It snowed in Brownsville once, didn't it?

Can't remember where exactly, but it was south of San Antonio. I want to say that Corpus got some snow, but I don't recall. Since I have lived here, it has snowed north, south, east, and west of SA as close as Kerrville, but it never snowed here.
