I recently purchased HB 26 (Whermacht Snow Troops). The skis that come on the back one of the soldiers are slightly bent and the paint appears to be slightly peeling where the bend has occurred. I have two questions, (1) can I simply bend the skis to make them straight without them breaking and (2) is the paint wear normal?

Thanks in advance for any answers.

You can probably bend the skiis by warming them by rubbing your fingers up and down them and then gently bending them, but you may never get them straight. Also because the skiis are double back to back it and thick it is more risky and difficult to bend them The paint peeling at the bend is probably due to the bending. I usually try to fix bent or broken pieces, but if you are not comfortable or practiced at doing this (and then touching up the paint) you may want to contact the vendor.

Terry,

Thanks so much. Kilted Vampire on the forum (I am sure you know of him) goes to the same toy soldier shop as I do. He is pretty well versed in repairs so I might just have him help me out as it seems a little more complex than I had imagined. I am a little reluctant to return it to the vendor as it was difficult to find.

But thank you again, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your help.

I will be at the shop on Thursday afternoon. Do you want me to just leave the set for you and you can repair it at your leisure?

And watch out for the Beaufighter guy, last time I hung out with him and his wife I ended up buying Kathy a whole new set of jewelry!!!!!!!!

You NORCAL gentle gents are killing me. Hey General Caffeine Vamp, how is that Sturmtiger Crane project coming along???

Tally Ho,
Marc
I just remembered that project and was trying to remember who I promised it to.

That is what you get for hanging out with over caffeinated pilots riding genetically enhanced rabbit-thingy's with rockets attached downhill on ski's in better than favorable conditions. ZOIKS!!

Yeah leave it at the shop or call me when you do. I'll PM with phone #

O' Mighty Sultan of the Vamp Sucking illy Espresso Bean:

I patiently await the building phase of said crane (winter version too) for the Sturmtiger! Hopefully, no further building permits will be required. If so, contact "panzer ace" and tell him "time kills deals."

Whole LATTE Love,
Beau

Did you fix the bent ski yet? I am curious as to how it went as the skiis are thick and probably difficult to bend and especially to get them to bend straight and not get a ripple effect.

Terry,

I am going to drop off the set with the Kilted one for him to fix today. I will advise you once I get it back. Thanks again for your help with this. I am glad I got an answer from you before trying to fix it myself.
