Hello

I'm not a collector (yet) but I found these soldiers recently in a relative's estate and just want to know something about them. They are 6 5/8" H from base to top of flagpole.
The soldier is 2 5/8" H and appears to be made of lead. The flag is probably tin. They are hand painted with no discernible markings.
Any information as to age and maker would be greatly appreciated. ThanksIMG_6433.JPG

Not yet sure of the maker but very nice figures and interesting flags.....were there any more figures?

They look very much like CBG MIGNOT flag bearers after seeing similar ones in their catalogue.

I can't see these exactly, but the figures look similar, so maybe that a start?

I agree with Obee, those are Mignot figures. They may have been mounted on wooden display stands, originally, with a lable identifying the regiment or unit. I see them more often, attached to the bases.

As to their age, I'd estimate anywhere from 20 years to 60, just by looking at them. I'd have to consult my archives at home, to be able to say better.

Prost!

Hi Guys,

CBG Mignot from the 1950's would be my guess. They usually are on little wooden bases but I have seen a lot of them with out this extra base as well. The only other thing I can say is that by the style of the Uniforms they are French Units from the mid to late 1700's. My book doesn't have photos of all of them so I cant be sure of which units are show. Will see if I can find one of my other references tonight because it has more photos of these beauties

Very nice beginning of a collection.

Dave

I also believe that they are Mignot. Here are three photos of some of Bob Walker's Mignot flag bearers collection for comparison purposes.

The one on the left of the photo is from one of the regiments raised primarily from Irish emigres, Dillon, maybe? I recall the motto on the flag. The third flag from the left is the Royal Swedish regiment, Royal Suedois. The one in the center has a crown surmounted by what looks like a lion, but I can't be sure. But it should be easy enough to track down the regiment, especially with the color of the coat. I'm thinking another foreign regiment, maybe Swiss?

Prost!

Bob has Royal Suedois in his collection, too, at the end of the row on the one shelf.

WOW! You are all so knowledgeable and helpful. The information you provided is absolutely fascinating. I do only have the 5 for now. It does look like they may have been part of a larger display because on most of the bases there appears to be some residue of clear adhesive. I can't thank you enough for steering me in the right direction to further research these interesting figures.
