Hi,
I know that there is this one lancer figure turning in the saddle that is really valuable, but is this just Britains' figures in this pose in any lancer regiment, or only a specific lancer regiment? I am trying to decide whether or not to buy one of these figures, but want to know if it would be a good buy. They are:
16th QUEENS ROYAL LANCERS
9th QUEENS ROYAL LANCERS
5th ROYAL IRISH LANCERS
Thanks for any help!

I think they used that Lancer officer for just 3 different regiments.

5th Lancers
9th Lancers
16th Lancers

I would think they have to worth about $40 a piece

I was watching these three as well, its over now, but the 5th Irish lancer was the rarest as that set was not in production as long as the others, however the seller mentioned touch up paint as possible so that would affect value especially if the touch up was the feathers as the green makes the difference. The 17th had this officer as well with the foreign service helmets on the troopers.

The 17th Lancers is the hardest to find as later sets did not include and officer. That is why Britains made a new one in the "hollowcast series"

If you miss out and DESPERATELY want some - buy them from Dorset Soldiers for less than £10 as castings - and have the fun of painting them for ANY Lancer regiment. You can then also have them for Regiments that Britains never made.

NB. The castings even have the Britains marks under the horse's belly - as they are re-casts from an original.

Of course, if your only interested in originals - you may be horrified to know this. Be careful of what you buy from a picture though

This is one I made earlier. I deliberately DON'T do them JUST like the originals - BUT - I could if I wanted to.

Just a thought - johnnybach

Funny how so many of us were watching those auctions. I passed on the Irish Officer and troopers that I am still trying to find because they were definately touched up on the color of the green. I compared the one I have to it and even with some differences due to cameras it was very clearly a different color.
