A detachment of french and polish lancers encounters some british highlanders of the 42nd and 92nd just out side of Quatre Bras june 16th 1815.
The fighting is brief and the scouting party of lancers soon calls of the attack on the ladies from hell as a large column of dutch and belgians is seen coming up in support in the distance.

Just a quicky Joe I only had a small time window to throw this one together and then get it all packed back away again.
Maybe next weekend I,ll have a larger time window to work with and be able to do something a little better and be able to take my time with it and not be so rushed with the set up.:(

Tim

You've got to love those Highlanders. Yours are definitely more fit than the ones in the Napoleon mini-series. Rumor has it that the Highland re-enactors in the series overdid their rations of Beef Wellington and Johnnie
Walker between takes:D

Seriously, thanks for setting up this nice display. Looking forward to more Brits.

Randy

Nice! I see there are figures from Frontline and Britain's? any other makes. I like the buildings, they make this kind of dio, did you make these?

Jeff

Wow Tim, that looks great. That background definately finishes the pics. Quite a gaggle of men in skirts. Just kidding before I'm pounced on by all the Highlanders. I'll be hearing bagpipes all night now.

I agree Mike, I presume 'The Book' is being put to good use here. The backdrops really finish the dio off nicely. Great spread!

Yes I made the buildings out of pink foam. As for the figures, yes they are almost all britains and frontline. The cavalry figures are frontline with a few Del prado polish lanciers mixed in and one Niena polish cavalry officer.

As for the british they are old retired britains and frontline and a few timpo plastics I painted up and one frankienstien conversion I made from a marx viking and various other plastic pieces and 2 part putty with an airfix head.

I wasn,t happy at all with the lighting Simon. I wish I had waited and did this when I had more time to do a better job. And yes that book was a very good investment there are many more good pages still in there i,ll be doing more of these soon.

Cool! Look forward to them.

I've got to say that I find lighting difficult to get right. Most of the photos I do are done in the wee hours, after the kids have gone to bed (benefits - collection stays intact) and after the wife has gone to bed (benefits - no provocative comments about time spent playing etc.).

Disadvantages are that I end up always using artificial light, which either, a) gives the photos a yellow hue, b) loses clarity and definition or c) ends up looking like I've shot the photo using artificial lighting, inside.
On a good day, I can hit all three at once

I've got one of those cheap white photo cube thingies coming for smaller shots, so I'll have a muck around and see if I can get better lighting effects.

I ruined the natural lighting I had by where I set up the display.
I should have set it up so that the natural light that I did have was shineing straight onto the diorama so that I would not have gotton that shadow on my back ground photo and the two buildings made the photo even darker with the shadow that they caused to it.
But like I said this was done very quickly and the front of the TV cabinet looked like a great spot to hold the book up at the time and I had more room to work with in this spot and like i said this was done very quickly and I didn,t have much time to put a lot of thought into the set up.
