Here is another Hiriart set that patron3085 posted on eBay yesterday; he is asking $200. It is set 1141 THE 17TH LANCERS, ULUNDI. This version has an officer and four lancers versus the catalog version which has an officer, bugler, and three lancers.

I really like the animated sculpting on the horses in this set Mike. Note the flowing tails and the liveliness of them . I also especially like the way that the sword is following the rear leg. Not likely to get bent or snapped off that way - as many of Britains straight down swords often are. Nice!:D jb

Thanks JB. They are animated, aren't they? Godd observation on the swords, too. I hate broken swords and bayonets.

Here is a very nice version of the 17th with slung lances.

John,

Very nice double set of the 17th Lancers. It appears to have been made prior to 2008. Did you order it that way directly or did you pick it up from someone else? There are at least four versions of this set that I am aware of: 1) the catalog in action set, 2) a non-catalog standing set, 3) the patron3085 eBay set, and 4) your double set with slung lances.

Mike,

This is actually a 2012 set that I had made as part of a Zulu campaigns project. It is not stamped on the tie-card but the single sets ordered at the same time are all marked. I bought the catalog set in 2009 and had an add-on set of five lancers made with this set. The project is still somewhat formative but at least one column is starting to take shape.

John,

It was probably an oversight that Hiriart did not stamp the tie-card on your double set which led me to assume that it was produced before 2008. You are probably aware that there is another Hiriart non-catalog version of the 17th Lancers in Review Order. Damian and I have ordered it on the 2014 order.
