I received the second and final part of my 2015 Hiriart order this week. It comprised 56 sets for 13 different collectors and me. This photo shows the order after I had opened the two shipping boxes and organized them as to whether they were going to be mailed, distributed Saturday at Bob Walker's house, or added to my collection. There are sets representing Argentina, Austro-Hungary, France, Japan, Romanian, Russia, and the United States visible. The shipment is worth close to $10,000 USD which is $3,000 more than I made per year in my first job working for the U.S. Government in Washington, D.C. after I graduated from college. Who could have guessed?

This is a double set of 1143 INFANTERIE DE LIGNE, 1914 for Fred. Boy, I love those colorful 1914 French Infantry uniforms. I am tempted to order them as a band, although I have no idea where I would find the space to display them.

This is a non-catalog set that John also ordered of WORLD WAR I DEUTSCHES ALPEN KORPS MOUNTAIN PACK ARTILLERY which goes with his double set in the previous post. I didn't want to remove all the Styrofoam packing from his set to photograph it, but I have also included a stock photo of his set so that you can see it better. This was the first time that Hiriart made this mountain artillery set.

Mike . . . Will you be bringing any of your unsold sets to the West Coaster?

Bosun Al

Hi Al,

Yes, I will be bringing all my Hiriart resale sets to the West Coaster. However, I have sold two of the 28 sets on the resale list that I sent out on Monday: 1245 WWI DEUTSCHES SUD-WEST AFRIKA SCHUTZENTRUPPE and 1354 WWI KING'S AFRICAN RIFLES COLOR PARTY, 1914. Were you interested in any particular set?

Mike

This is Hiriart set 1272 FRENCH OFFICERS IN AFRICA for Danish collector, Niels.

This is the current catalog set 1304 JAPANESE INFANTRY, 1904 that was ordered by Fred. This is the latest version that has a Japanese bugler with a flag banner. An interim version had a bugler without a flag banner and my earlier yet original catalog version had no bugler at all. It is a handsome set whose figures could represent Japanese Infantry in either the 1900 Boxer Rebellion or the 1905 Russo-Japanese War.

This is catalog set 1291 ASCARI LIBICHE, III BATTAGLIONE, ITALIA, 1929 for Randy (PolarBear). NB: In the past Hiriart has made or is making for my 2016 order, nine other Ascari battalion special sets, so that there will be coverage from I through X. Brian and Bob are ordering all ten while several other collectors have ordered more than one. Each battalion has a different colored flag, fez tassel, and waist sash (e.g., I Battaglione is black, II Battaglione is blue, etc.).

This is a non-catalog ZULU WAR ROYAL ARTILLERY GUN TEAM with officer and bugler escorts that Damian and I ordered. I'll have to glue that loose piece that goes on the lower front part of the limber back on.

Mike S. and Steve ordered this special pack mule version of set 1365 GREEK INFANTRY, BALKAN WAR, 1912. Since they were so carefully packed, I photographed them as received, rather than removing all that Styrofoam packing material.
