One of the first Hiriart sets I purchased was Set 1156 FRENCH CHASSEURS ALPINS MOUNTAIN INFANTRY. My set is on display, this photo from 2011, is a set which another collector ordered.

Thanks Jeff, I couldn't agree more. The individual labels that Hiriart makes for each of its sets is one of the things that makes their toy soldier sets so neat. Up until a couple of years ago, Hiriart did not have box top labels for its separate forty set Spanish Civil War line. I suggested that they make one and they did.

This is an add-on set with 9 extra men that I ordered in 2011.

This is a stock photo where you can get a closer look at the figures.

Al,

I know you well enough by now, to have expected you to say that. Thanks. You can't beat French miitary uniforms from 1914 for their color and showability (I think I just made that word up).

Mike

Here is a special paint variation of the FRENCH CHASSEURS ALPINS that was ordered by Forum member Al Fisher where they are wearing dark pants. Al subsequently ordered an add-on set with 9 extra men. Several other collectors and I have also ordered this variation on a future order.

I am just making an educated guess, but I think that the reason for the blue pants or white pants is one of season. While the blue would have been standard issue, the white would have been a variation for summer use. I know Zouave troops also had this option with the white pants. -- Al

I believe you are right about that, Al. BTW, to show you how addictive this hobby can be, several collectors and I have also ordered this dark pants variation, but with the figures wearing Adrian helmets instead of berets. Oh, where does this end?

I also commissioned Hiriart to make me a FRENCH CHASSEURS ALPINS BAND a couple of years ago.
