I recently picked up 16 assorted Hiriart single figures at an auction. I was interested in them mainly because they included five early figures that had hexagon bases and articulated arms. As you probably know, Hiriart has been producing figures with rectangular bases and fixed arms for many years. Here are five early figures with hex bases and articulated arms which include an officer and cadet from set 1061 COLLEGIO MILITAR ARGENTINA and 20th Century French Foreign Legion in khaki uniforms. Note how much more primative the painting, faces, etc. is on these figures compared to the current production standard.

Here are five additional, older Hiriart figures that have rectangular bases and no longer have articulated arms. However, Hiriart is using a visable method to attach arms to some of these figures (which I don't care for) unlike today's figures. The two French figures on foot are either Chasseurs a Cheval or Chasseur d'Afrique; I am not sure since both the officer and bugler have white plumes. Hiriart currently has both units in its' catalog, but they are mounted and not on foot. I am not sure what sets the other three figures came from, if any, but I paricularly like the French Foreign Legion officer and the Japanese infantryman. I can see myself ordering special sets of the Japanese, as they appear in the photo, both in blue and khaki uniforms, at some future date.

Here are the final six figures that I picked up. They are all personality figures including Rommel (set 1220), Von Rundstedt (set 1056), Mussolini (set 1206), and Churchill (set 1129). The two figures of Adolph Hitler I have never seen before; maybe, they are early versions from set 1043.

One more thing about the figures in the first post with hexagon bases and articulated arms. Note how large and out of scale the rifles are.
