This is my version of Hiriart's Set 1079 WWI U.S. INFANTRY, 1917 which I had painted with khaki hats rather than the gray hats found on the standard catalog set. I believe that Britains painted their version of this set with gray hats, too.

I like both these sets for what they are, but I think the khaki colored hats look more correct, at least more appealing to my eye. -- Al

I believe that the khaki hats are more correct, too. I am guessing that Hiriart was inspired by the corresponding Britains set with gray hats. I seem to remember buying, in the 1950s, a 30mm SAE set of pre-WWI U.S. cavalry which were wearing khaki uniforms with gray hats.
