Was just doing some browsing and happened up this company, in particular their Napoleonic series. They have some really great models.

Has anyone made any of the models and are they easy to put together? Also is there a distributor here in the US or Canada?

Thanks
Scott

Great kits with wonderful small details.

These were the kits of choice to use as a basis for conversions and many of the most memorable dioramas and vignettes by Shep Paine . Many of them started as a basic Historex figure, although you might not recognize the results. It is interesting that they were scaled at 1/30th too as the dominate scale at the time was 1/32.
My advice would be to put one or two together before you attempt any significant conversion... and consider buying a couple of Shep Paine's book on building and painting military miniatures.

Thanks Ken

I was just reading a tips and hints page for Historex models. I think these maybe beyond my modelling skills as from what I can ascertain you have to make all of the belts cross webbing etc..

Scott they are very similar to the airfix style napoleonic kits with lots of parts and are made of the same type of plastic as other plastic model kits. This plastic will break easy on fine parts like swords and bayonets ect. I would suggest you buy just one to give it a try to see if these are for you? These kits do offer you a ton of conversion possiblities and they have a lot of various figures to choose from.

Thanks Tim,

I think I may pick one up. The worst that could happen is it drives me crazy and I abandon the project.

Cheers

Scott,

I've been making HISTOREX figures since I was a boy !!!!!

Yes back in the 'good old days' I graduated from AIRFIX 1/32 kits and plastic figures to the French maker, and found them much more challenging to assemble, but they are more versitile with interchangeable parts and highly deatiled.
You can check out my collection here: http://members.upnaway.com/~obees/soldiers/historex.htm but I need to do some editing because some of the images aren't appearing... check it out on the weekend.

Some of them are from the late 1960's and then kept safe at my Mum's house while I was off doing other things ( travelling, working, chasing women.... catching one.... family, kids.... etc)

They are still available, and have a website showing all of the kits available.

I don't know where you can buy them in the USA, but they are easily obtained in Europe.

regards,
John

Thanks John, this is what I was looking for. Kits that have been put together and painted. I am surprised I have noticed these on your site as I have had it bookmarked for years and constantly browse it for ideas and to daydream :D :D

Thanks again

Scott

Scott: Check Hobby Bunker. I traded mint mounted Historex kits for K&C at the Detroit Show. He might still have them for sale. I did not feel like making the kits. I made only two in 20 years. John

Scott,

I have updated my webpage, and now the links are operating to give you the enlarged images of my troops.

If you are looking for a site to buy some, check out this one in UK http://www.historexagents.com/shop/hxshop.php

Please note that they do make some figures in resin, with plastic parts and are sold under thier NEMROD label, but they are just as good!

regards,

John

Thanks John,

The pictures look fabulous !!! My faves are

Scots Dragoon Guard & Inniskilling Dragoon & Line Artillery Train & Gunner

Thanks also for the link, that is the site where I first notice them, I think I may order a couple from them and see how it goes.

Many thanks to you all for all of your help.

Scott

Just had a look at the Nemrod pieces, there are some awesome figures in that collection as well.
