I happened to see an auction on eBay for figures packaged as "Historical Figure Museum":

http://cgi.ebay.com/20-Historical-F...hash=item130236812677&_trksid=p3286.m20.l1116

I've never heard of these before. The packaging looks to be Japanese, but I imagine the figures are made on the mainland. Has anyone every heard of or seen these figures before?

It looks like the auctions are for figures No. 18 and 20, as shown on the back of the box.

I'm not interested in buying them, but I'm curious to know more about any figures I've never seen before.

Prosit!

I could be wrong, Brad, but I think those are the boxes Harry (Heid) photographed with his new First Legion Samurai figures. If so, the auction might be for some of the new First Legion Samurais, which Harry said were absolutely fantastic.

Thanks for the tip, Louis, I'm going to go back and look at Harry's threads again, and see. I thought of him, when I saw these, since he is based in China these days, and thought he may have seen them.

From the English text and the pictures, I take these to be completed figures, but I can't read Japanese, so I don't know for sure.

Nope, not our boxes or figures. I think this auction is for a casting only, not a painted figure as it's in the "Models & Kits" section and says it's an "Iron" figure and makes no reference of painting. Also, as far as I know, the writing is Chinese not Japanese.

Not sure how it was even possible to connect this auction to our boxes and figures Louis. Am I looking at the right auction?!?!

Are you sure it's Chinese? I don't read or speak either language, but I think I recognize the Japanese hiragana character "no" (looks like a backwards and sideways "e") in several places in the text.

Of course, the Japanese kanji were derived from the Chinese alphabet, imported into Japan in the 4th century AD, so that may be a Chinese character, too. And the rest of the text looks like the Japanese I've seen on other sites.

Prosit!

On closer inspection, I think you are right actually, that it's Japanese with a lot of Kanji as the text on the bottom in the small letters is most definitely Japanese. Either way, it's not First Legionese. ;)

I think that was a question Louis had, in conjunction with Harry the Heid's posts. For me, they are more similar to that class of figure like K&C/DelPrado, from the size, and the style of the sculpt, a little beefier or more robust.

Also, I have a boxed DelPrado samurai figure at home, in packaging for the Japanese market, and these auctions reminded me of that package. Now, that figure is definitely a DelPrado figure, because it carries the marking under the base ;) but it wouldn't surprise me if these figures are made by some foundry that does contract casting, and produced these figures in this packaging, specifically for this "Historical Figure Museum" line.

I think it's neat to have things like this turn up, and give us a puzzle to solve :)

Prost!

Hi all,

these figures are sold as soft plastic collectibles for the Asian market which does mainly manga (comic) figures.
The figures are in 1/35 scale and come ready coloured and mounted on plastic bases. They are quite cheap.
