Please post here your historical relatives' uniforms ( or other historical uniforms you have at home), it s nice to see {sm3}

Here is my grandfather' s uniform: infantry captain ( Italian army) in ww2. He was sent to occupied Albania and he told my father an anecdote:

italians were supposed to survey telegraph or telephone cables, but every night they were sabotaged by the partisans. One day, a german unit came in the area and the italians were told they would take care of the problem. The german commander convoked the chiefs of the villages nearby and told them that if the cables were found cut again, he would have executed them...Since that day no more sabotages were made ^&grin

My other grandfather in his Italian navy officier uniform, WW2. He served in Split, occupied Croatia.

He told,joking, that he conquered a little Croatia island with gun in hand...But just landed, local people welcomed him with flowers, so everything was fine.

Hi Poppo

I took a few minutes to look up the medals and thought it was interesting that the Cross for Military Merit was from 1936. Do you know if it was a reissue to your Great Grandfather or was it awarded to your Grand Father for his service in Albania? The other two are from WWI one for the campaign against Austria and the other for the Unification of Italy commemoration. Very interesting to see these medals. Thanks for sharing them.

Thank you Dave,

I am sure that they all concern my great grandfather....Maybe it can be a reissue after ww1, but surely they all were given to him.

You can see below the medal given to my grand father who was in Albania for his partisan activity against the germans after the italian armistice.It was given after the end of ww2.

Say hello to Szczecin ( ancien Stettin) from me; I was there a few times as I know all Poland well.:salute::

My grandfather fought on that same front- as a Hungarian hussar officer! We can only hope we never have to repeat such a senseless war like the one our ancestors fought in 100 years ago.
