My father's fighter group (79th) was probably the first to bomb this compound.

DAF THUNDERBOLTS BOMB BERCHTESGADEN HIDEOUT
MAAF HEADQUARTERS: The world famous Bavarian town of Berchtesgaden home of Adolph Hitler's hideaway was attacked yesterday for the first time when rocket firing Thunderbolts operating under the Desdert Air Force roared in at low level despite heavy flak and intense small arms fire to destroy or damage eight rail cars and a locomotive in the city's marshalling yards.
Although an air force spokesman said that there was no political significance in the attack and the city had been strafed only because the fighters scheduled target had been weathered in, the attack is bound to cause considerable consternation in Germany and the Nazi party who fear for the safety of their beloved Fuehrer.
One of the pilorts claimed to have dropped his wing tank on Hitler's house.
Is this where the K&C diorama comes from?
