Hi All!
This years W. Britain Collector's Club Winter set is a great stand alone set or an add on to last years "Under the Mistletoe".

London 1815:
It is the end of the Napoleonic wars and dad is home for the Holidays. Mom and the young son are out with this young Guards officer.
It looks like they have been shopping and the boy beats away on his new toy drum.

The 2009 set consists of three white metal figures in the Classic Gloss style and includes a detailed resin and metal scenic section of sidewalk, brick and stone wall, gate and iron arch with lantern.

This set is deigned to stand alone or be displayed with the 2008 set.

Here are a couple of images of the 2009 set displayed with last years set..."Under the Mistletoe".

Notice the sprigs of holly print on the young ladies shawl for a festive touch, the fur trimmed wool winter coat and matching fur muff.
The officer is from one of the Center companies as noted by the white over red feather plume.

This set can be ordered by W. Britain Collector's Club members and will be shown in the new Standard.
All the Best!

Hi Ken,

Thanks very much for posting these great images of the 2 lovely Christmas sets.

The "Under the Mistletoe" set is my pick.

The Guardsman looks amused or is my imagination......

Kind Regards, Raymond.:)

Beautiful beautiful !!!! I think I now need to get last's years set and then get this one :)

Forgot to ask, will we see additional sets in years to come perhaps keeping the bases/walls the same but changing the time periods of the red coats??

"Christmas village" collectors woild like these. It looks like Scrooge's teenage years.

Perhaps britain's could release the wall as a separate piece minus the snow so you could display whichever redcoats you choose to in front of it?

Hi All,
I have been kicking around some ideas with the wall and sidewalk sections for future sets. My first choice might be to add a few more 1815 period groupings to properly populate a street scene. Perhaps we could come back later and do an 1830s series to bring Mr Scrooge up to date.

We need to see how these perform in the collector's club first!
I have penciled in a few subjects to go over with Richard after the Chicago show.
The good news is that between the OTSN, Jane Austen Society show and our own Williamsburg show, we will be together at the same events more than usual over the next 30 days to discuss new product development.
All the Best!

I am generally not that big on Christmas pieces, but these two are just absolutely outstanding. It reminds me a bid on the excellent sets that Jim Hillestad is offering each year to his customers. Something like that from Britains would certainly receive a warm welcome.

Ray, Jim has a (or rather "the") private toy soldier museum on the East Coast. He makes a couple of sets for his customers. I did not see him in Chicago, though.

The next open house event at his home is October 31 and I can only encourage you to go. His displays got me into collecting toy soldiers last year. For details, I may refer you to one of my albums where I stored a number of representative photos of his displays.

For additional information, I may point to his website:

Here he is with Richard and Ken:

Hello Andanna,

Thanks very much for the information.

That is a great picture of Jim Hillestad with Richard and Ken.

I was told that he was at the show on Sunday.

His website is under my list of "Favourites".

Kind Regards, Raymond.:)

Ken,
I have the 2008 and ordered the 2009 one. I think its great to have a series of Xmas sets that build on one another. That was the problem with previous Xmas ones, they were all stand alone, so would look funny if put all together. I like the idea of a street scene, that could be added to with other Petitcoat and other series figures.

This new set won't get to us until February according to the club flyer. I was so looking forward to putting on my fireplace mantle for the holidays.

I know it is a shame that this years set wont be with us till next year! Hopefully the X-Mas 2010 set will be put into production a little earlier & get here in time for the holiday season next year!
