When I noticed that K&C was about to issue 5 figures of the British Home Guard of 1940-1941 that also represented the 5 main actors in the popular UK BBC's TV series "Dad's Army" I ordered them right away! I enjoyed this comedy TV series many years back about a British Home Guard platoon in the small fictional town of "Walmington-On-Sea" on the South coast of England. This TV series ran from 1968 to 1977 with some 80 shows and a 1 1/2 hour movie entitled "Dad's Army, The Movie" in 1971 which I got just recently via an eBay purchase. I have obtained some years back 6 VHS video tapes covering 18 of their TV shows. I just recently discovered that most of their TV shows and the movie can be viewed for free via going to www.youtube.com/Dad'sArmy.
The figures / sets FOB 082, 083, 084, 085 & 088 from right to left on photos below represent the actors who played: "Captain Mainwaring", "Sergeant Wilson", "Pvt. Walker", "Pvt. Pike" & "Lance Corporal Jones". Four of the above actors have died with the last one "L. Cpl Jones" played by Clive Dunn having died in early November 2012 at age 92. The one still alive is "Pvt. Pike" played by actor Ian Lavender (Born in 1946) who was given his claret & Blue scarf from BBC's wardrobe department at the end of the TV series as a keepsake.
I think the figures made by K&C are very fine tributes to these 5 actors who played major roles in this splendid TV comedy series in the UK. Well done Andy! Please see #3 photos below!!!
