Thanks foe the interest...sorry...I am not familiar with "the green stuff"...I find sculprey good ( apart from the fact it is the only stuff I can get )Tom, love your work!^&cool How long does it take you to do a figure? Seams like you have a ton of figures. Having tried my hand at this myself I know how much work goes into doing this and the time involved and without your great results. You have a lot of talent.
Have you ever tried 2 part putties like green stuff ect... that,s what I tried working with. Do you ever make molds of the figures and cast any?
Green stuff...That struck a cord....I remembed seeing a GREEN Prussian Hussar in the sculpturing section.....good work...try sculprey....do a bit...bake...do a bit bake....everything stays stable and you dont lose shape as you progress.....dont use an oven...use a fry pan... temp set about 7 or 8....work it out as you go along.....some sculprey does not hold the colour too good when it's baked on and off over a long period...but most of the time it does not require painting...white is a bad colour...does need painting....cheers TomTom, love your work!^&cool How long does it take you to do a figure? Thank you for that...that has certainly made my day..but...my figures dont measure up to the pro's....I have a lot more lee way in making figures because I can do them as I wish and am not under pressure to make them accurate down to the bootlaces...the guys who buy model soldiers are pretty darn picky and expect a lot for their buck......I have been trying to model horse's for two yrs...the necks are still too short and I am hopeless with the hoofs....(that is why the feet are buried in the sand) but I am getting there....I enjoy what I do as a bobby and it is nice to find a place where I can show my work......thanks for the nice words...cheers TomWhen I saw your figures, the first thing that came to mind was: "Wow, those must be some very rare early K&C pieces- except with better sculpting." Then I learned you use clay- without considering that fact, you are a sculptor on par with the best in the industry- when you take that into consideration, you really are one of the best I have seen. You capture horses better than half the guys out there, and the details on the figures are more crisp and accurate. It is a major loss to the hobby that you don't have your own toy soldier company, or at least work for one. I would buy one of your figures any day!
