This thread needs some qualifications. I decided to work on several beasties at the same time to save on putty. One is a typical horse made up from Historex parts, the mid-size one is meant to represent a pony and the last is converted from a Tamiya mule kit. The pony is converted from several 1/35 scale kits.

Some progress on the pony and mule. I think that the rump on the pony is too rounded and will be cut down. The head on the mule is an original casting made from resin.

I've added and reshaped more musculature to the pony. It looks quite satisfactory to my eyes and I will be sanding it down after this. Will be working on a proposed Ethiopian figure for this piece.

Also conscripted a heavy horse for an upcoming ECW dragoon. That is an Airfix ECW saddle on its back.

Hello Britfarmer,

Thanks for the kind comments. I painted over the pony with matt enamel. Surface looks good. I think that the rump is still too high and will shave that down. The impression I want is of a pony going uphill. I am working on the horse head. I've already planned to do the Ethiopian rider soon so when that is underway, I'll start a new thread.

Hi All,

I've decided to redo the Ethiopian pony as an undernourished beast.
I've gouged into the flanks and buttocks with files and sandpaper.
