Been reading the threads and it looks like there are quite a few current, former and retired police officers on this board.
I was a St. Louis Police Officer for 30 years, retired and for the past 8 years been a PO with the University of St Louis-Mo.
Gonna retire for good in December.

Did you know Andy was a member of the then Royal Hong Kong Police when he first went to Hong Kong?:)

Funny Gary, thinking exactly the same thing.

Police Officer in Nottingham with 19 years down, 11 to go (well, 11 years, 2 months and 12 days. Roughly).

Leadmen: I was a Chicago Police for 4 years and Evergreen Park Police for 3 years before going full time on my railroad part-time job. Worked the riots in 68 and morale kept getting worse. No overtime pay, days off cancelled and court time not paid. Civil Rights marches every weekend.I knew Jesse Jackson when he first started marching. We marched with him and people threw stuff at us, marchers and police. They gave you hours owed but could never use them. Always short of officers. Worked has a "diaper dick" last several years (Juvenile Officer). Seventeen police officers quit that year due to bad morale, including a couple of Sgts. and one Lieutenant. Things are better now but I never had any more desire to stay in law-enforcement. ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,burned out.

Gary,
As you know, I am not a police officer, but my father was, Boston Police for 30 years.

Eric on the forum is a NY State Trooper, Joe on the forum is a New Jersey police officer, evil chuck on the forum in NYPD among others.

Proud to have all of you here, to protect and to serve......................

I am a current Police Officer in Canada......:) Morale is very poor where I work...so I can relate.

Constable WELLINGTON...:)

as george said,i am retired from nypd on a disability, work related.m1slappy on the forum(jeff) was actually my partner for a few years before i retired,he's still stuck there.alot of morale problems going on here also.hello to all our brothers in blue,or whatever colors you wear........stay safe

Chuck,
Sorry to hear about you being out on a work related disability.

Back in 1986, my dad had a work related injury that almost forced him to retire early. He was in the mounted unit at the time doing crowd control after the Red Sox had beaten the Angels in game 7 at Fenway. The crowd was getting out of control, so he and several other officers rode their horses into the area where the crowd was going wild. He tried to herd the crowd out of the area, swung his horse around 180 degrees and his left knee slammed into a parking meter on the sidewalk that he could not see.

He blacked out from the pain and fell off the horse, luckily, another officer saw what happened and grabbed him. His knee still bothers him to this day, just part of the job as I am sure you can relate to.

Hope you can come to one of the NY/NJ shows at some point and meet he and I..............

my knee hurts after that story, ouch.my quick story..........burglary,flight of stairs,me and perp down them....broken hand torn rotator cuff 2 broken discs in my back.100% better after surgery.........but like your dad we have our days

Yes Steven, I knew Andy was with the Hong Kong PD, I brought it up to him one time but he didn,t seem enthused to talk about it.

Chuck,
Glad you are 100% better, that is good news. Nothing worse than a bad back, ask "Fubar' on this forum and he can tell you all about bad backs, not fun.

My next NY show is August 26th at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 66 Hale Avenue, White Plains New York. Not sure if papa bear is coming with me to that one, but he will definately be with me at Hackensack at the College in November..................

Regards,
George

Chuck,

George

Thanks Rick: I hope everything stays safe with you- thanks for serving. I remember some years ago at a Show in Chicago , I was looking at Hobby Bunker's tables when Matt's Dad Bill says something about police officers, and Marines being into collecting. About five guys by the table were officers or former Marines. Leadmen
