What an insult. Ignorant morons desecrating brave men's sacrifices. If the police catch those responsible maybe the quillotine can be demonstrated.:mad: -- Al
 
This might be a case where the community shows how important the cemetery and what it represents is. Immediate restoration, prosecution of the vandals, and maybe a re-dedication.

The vandalism may not have any political motive other than that vandals know swastikas upset people. A recent vandalism at Gettysburg had various people blaming drug dealers, video gamers (!) and no-big -government types. (It was a United States Regulars monument.) Most likely the monument had a large empty space on it waiting to be "tagged."

Yes,good point.It could be just vandals indeed using a symbol they know will offend.Must say I thought the apology very sincere from Sarkozy,its good to hear the revulsion felt over there about this.

French Nazis . . . now I've seen everything. I have a French buddy whose grandfather was in the resistence, and got killed by those Nazi scum. My buddy Roget's grandfather must be spinning in his grave.

What a disgrace. Its like I've said before, the only good nazi is a dead nazi. I'm all for the guillotine idea.:mad:
 
I find this incident very sad indeed,here we have these brave young men who gave up their families,their way of life and fought for freedom in one of the worst wars man has ever known.They gave their lives and now lie in graves far from home probably not visited that often.How anyone can desecrate any grave is truly beyond me,but to do it to these young men who gave the ultimate sacrifice so the forebears of these morons could live free lives in their own country,well I'm trying hard to moderate my own post here,but its despicable and contemptible.

Some people are so ignorant they have no idea how lucky they are.

Stupid kids. Just plain stupid. If they catch them, it would be nice to throw them in wool uniforms, canned food (if any), wait for a storm and make them live in a wet dank trench for two weeks. Maybe they'll understand why they shouldn't have done that.

So you have never heard of the Vichy?!!! All the Jews the French transported to the East!!

This does not discredit the Resistance but remember large parts of France joined Germany; read the accounts of French colonial troops treatment of POW's, led by French officers - it will shock you. Even the German's would not hand them over to the Vichy French forces

The vast majority of people on here - especially those who enjoy WWII - have heard of the Vichy? Also I am sure most have heard of Otto because of Schlinder's List. Hence my comments - again 'with all due respect'...

Yes, I've heard of the disgraceful Vichy collaborators, but I thought they were all dead.

And Otto Schindler obviously wasn't a Nazi, he was a German forced to pretend he was a Nazi, as evidenced by the fact that he saved all those Jewish workers.

There are no good Nazis. The very definition of a Nazi is that you are a racist-facist who believes that you are superior and you have the right to kill or enslave others. Those sick bastards killed millions of people. Two of my great uncles died fighting those twisted scum. So don't presume to lecture me about Nazis.
 
Actually, for anyone who cares to look beyond the "Politically correct" main stream press, Anti- semitism is at it's highest levels since the second world war and is on the rise, acts of vandilism are regularly perpetrated against Jewish cemetaries and shrines, often/usually with nazi symbols.

Fully agree and endorse your sentiments but I am not so sure it was just mindless kids. I think it significant that only British graves were desecrated, the Canadians were left alone. There are still quite a few of the French SS Divisions members still surviving and it is possible that their poison still lurks beneath the surface and influences certain elements of todays youth. Sincerely hope I am wrong as Neo Nazism will be a lot more difficult to eradicate.
