Hello
any of you have tried to cut in half one of those figures in order to place it in other firms tanks?
any help is welcome!
thanks

Rather than destroy a perfectly good painted Toy Soldier, by cutting one in half just underneath the waist ( which is a very easy thing to do - using a fine razor saw, but will probably harm some of the paintwork). You can of course, always touch-up the paintwork after cutting - but why not buy some unpainted cast parts and have the fun of making up new ones instead?

Suggest you have a look at Dorset Soldiers web-site ( http://www.dorsetsoldiers.com/)- then make contact with Giles Brown (the owner) by e-mail, ( e-mail address on first page) and explain what you want to do? Giles can supply different bodies, arms, heads ( with berets/helmets/headphones etc,) - in a variety of styles shapes and poses, suitable for Tank Commander/ Driver/other crew members - either sitting on the edge of turrets - or half in/out (half-bodies - or just head and shoulders too) - for you to adapt and pose to virtually any shape you like - and then paint yourself to suit the vehicle. Parts are simply stuck together with super-glue - or Giles can have them assembled and/or painted for you in either Glossy or matte finish, if that's what you would prefer?

Unpainted castings are mostly, very reasonably priced - as it's the painting of them that takes the extra time - which adds to the cost - but you can save quite a bit by painting them yourself. But - I would think that making up a new figure might be far better than destroying a perfectly good complete figure - which would inevitably, negatively affect the value of a complete tank set that the figure is removed from

Whichever you choose to do though - best of luck - and hope this suggestion helps - Johnnybach

Thank you for your tips and help, I have just found an Andrea Miniatures unpainted tank commandar in 1/32 which should work with FL scale.
Will post some pics once he is painted...:)

Please post a pic of the Andrea tank commander next to a FL figure if you can. Unpainted is fine, no need to wait until it is painted. I have thought about using Andrea figures with FL and would love to see a size comparison picture.

Will they also do repaints?

Another option might be to use Kronprinz German tank commanders. They come in full and half body variants and are significantly cheaper than FL.

They are close in scale, just slightly larger, but I find the painting style complements First Legion well and they blend pretty good together.

Here's a link to a review I did with lots of pictures:

Hope this helps.

I'm glad someone asked this question and was VERY glad to see your post about KP tank figures-I had no idea they'd come so far. Great option vs. cutting my FL tank commander in two (and ruining him).

Here we go:

Agree.... But to my eye the Andrea figure might be closer to 1:35th scale....The comparison photo seems to clearly show that FL Tank commanders are fairly accurate 1:30th scale.....It would seem that KP Tank commaders is the way to go as they seem to be 1:30th in scale....That's better then cutting an FL figure in half which I have considered but will not do at this point.
