This is a single figure casting from a German manufacturer U Puchala. I've had it for some time now. Standing on his oversized base, he looks a little forlorn. I intend to refurbish the figure to make it part of my WW2 personalities collection. As it is in 1/35 scale, I will have to lengthen the figure to make it visually compatible. For now, it looks like a simple conversion, but as you know with me, all of my conversions have turned out to be more complex than I had initially anticipated.

So I lengthened the figure. I sawed it at the neck and knees, added pins and putty as filler. Putty was also added to lengthen the tunic. I also trimmed his cheeks and added more chin to reflect a better likeness. These large photos are unforgiving - that neck is a little too long.

I elevated the shoulders and trimmed the neck slightly to visually represent a tall man. Overall about a cm of height added.

I finally completed painting this piece. The blue uniform was created by staining a darker blue colour over a lighter blue background. Highlight and shadows were further added to create interest to a plain uniform.

Hi Victor,

That's some serious surgery that you did there. Looks a lot more like Dowding, now, and less like Bomber Harris.:wink2:

great job - I love seeing these projects step by step.
(just reminds me how little talent I have! haha)

looks great!

Hello Zach and Moe,

Thanks for commenting. Actually, these pieces are already fairly well-sculpted. All I did was to suggest that it was Dowding and the rest was easy. It did look like Bomber Harris initially, didn't it?
