I did 14 miles on the treadmill today!!!!!!!!! not bad, just a little over half a marathon, got to lose these extra pounds,..just hope it doesn't kill me in the process:)...Sammy

Hi Sammy,

Fourteen miles seems like a huge accomplishment to me. Congratulations on hitting a significant milestone! You have done extremely well.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :smile2:

very very well done though I STRONGLY urge you to talk to your physician when taking on such extreme running (I assume you were running correct?). Even in my Currahee days, 14 miles was never something I ever aspired to- I think I hit 8 once or twice. please be very careful.

Your right Chris, my doc did give me the green light for any running, but man I paid for it the next 2 days!!!! my knees killed me at work, I won't be running that kind of milage for awhile, but still am amazed I went that far, and as far as people who do the full marathons...I tip my hat to ya:)...Sammy

Funny how father time brings us back to reality. {sm4} I wouldn't dream of touching 14 miles if my legs were replaced with the ones I had when I was 19. I definately tip my hat to you- couple questions-

1.) how long did it take
2.) did you just start going and before you knew it, had covered the distance? Sometimes, like once a year maybe, I just get going and everything sort of falls in place and I can run for seemingly forever- just curious if that happened for you or you sort of trained up for it.

Take care
CC

Running can be very nice (and healthy for your body and mind). I don't have a lot of opportunities to do it, but recently had a leasurly organized 7km run with other members of the gym and it was loads of fun! I love to do it at the beach, in the Summer, great sand extensions, watching the sea and stretches without any people, just seagulls (but always wearing good sneakers, mind you).

I'm not exactly sure how long it took, really going for the distance, I did 10 miles about 3 weeks ago and figure I give the half marathon a go, which is 13.2 miles but I'm very superstitious so I went to 14:), but I'm good for awhile...Sammy

Love me some beach running- went everyday on vacation last year at Jekyll Island- scenery is terrific!! {sm4} Great for the calves as well.

Here's a couple points to chew on:

1.) The man who won this years Boston Marathon covered it in 2 hours 3 minutes and 2 seconds- that is approximately a 4 min 42 second mile pace- for 26 miles- or better yet- 1 minute 10 seconds per lap around a hs football field track- for 104 consecutive laps- blows my mind!!

2.) On Wed I ran 4 miles- I ran 2 miles at an airborne shuffle pace of 9 minutes 13 seconds, took 10 minutes off and then ran another 2 miles in 16 and some change- all ona treadmill. According to the calorie counter, I only burned 15 more calories at the faster pace. ^&confuse^&confuse hmm....
