Hi Guys,
Just got back to the lush, green hills and peaceful valleys of Hong Kong from the wild and wooly East… (Canton that is) and found a terrible and ‘orrible kerfuffle had broken out among the gentle, peace-loving and warm-hearted folks who inhabit the Treefrog Forum.
What could I have done I pondered to have caused my old friend Pat to be so, so, so ashamed?
How could I have “dodged” and “fudged” and tried to pull the wool over so many trained and expert eyes with my little Rammjager? Especially those of my old sparring partner from Suid Afrika.
And why, going all the way back to the guy who started the ball rolling… Pierre… are you bringing up the problems of French Canadians in Quebec in the nineteen-sixties and going to shop at Eaton (the biggest store in Montreal at the time)? What, I ask you, is that got to do with the subject of the Rammjager and, even more strangely, Andy’s nature?
This forum and its participants have given me some of the best insights… ideas… and thought provoking moments of the last couple of years. It’s sometimes made me mad (but not for long)… it’s often made me laugh (because of the witticisms and antics of some members) and… most often… it’s given me many, many hours of unadulterated pleasure getting to know hundreds of great guys (and a few gals) all over the world. Simple as that.
Does it occasionally get “over-heated” or even a little “over-the-top”? Of course it does. All of us have thoughts and opinions that we like to share with others that’s what a forum is all about. It would be pretty boring if we all agreed on everything all of the time.
Well… we don’t and that’s life… real life that is and get used to it. We’re all big boys now… and we can have a laugh now and then… mais oui ou non?
There’s absolutely, positively, definitely no need for anyone to be ashamed on anyone else’s behalf… and certainly not on mine.
Many, many years ago, when I was a wee boy growing up in Scotland, my mum used to say “Cry and you cry alone… laugh and the world laughs with you.” Of course, she also said “The more you cry… the less you pee!”
Love, kisses and a warm fuzzy feeling to one and all (especially mon ami Pierre, that wiry old Springbok Damian and last, but not least, Pat).
