Now you will have to paint them...........

Brings back memories! I had a K-C caster kit as a kid and made hundreds of lead soldiers. Used to go to a paper mill where . . . for unknown reasons . . . I could find a lot of lead type.

Nice cache of homecasts! Yes, they'll paint up nicely.

The doughboys and sailors carrying the flag are Junior Caster figures, if I'm not mistaken. The Egyptians (wearing fezzes) and the sailor running with a rifle in his hand are from Schneider molds (whether original, or copies which were made here in the early decades of the 20th century). Very popular for the homecasting hobby.

And I'm like Bosun Al--I've got a stash of linotype metal that I use for my casting. I dealt for many years with a gentleman who cleaned out old print shops. The printers cabinets, he'd sell, drawer by drawer, as curio frames. The old metal, he'd sell to guys like me, for casting. I get good, crisp castings with that alloy.

Please do show us your toy soldiers when you've got them painted!

Prost!
