I recently purchased an AK 23 from a dealer and there are scuff marks on top of the tank in various places, as well as, on the lower top near the front of the tank.
just checked mine, if you mean it looks like some of the tan paint is rubbed off, it normal. its finished that way to give it a battle worn look..... its a great piece
