Along with Flashman, recreating The Sandpebbles in miniature is my dearest wish. Having said that, I'm aware that Early Pacific 1925 ~ 1942 might not be everyone's favourite era - but I can dream.:eek::)

Cheers

Okay, we are getting off-track here! Lets stop this with the movie lines etc.. And yes to the Italian WW2 suggestions! They are long overdue!! Also, they had the some great uniforms, especially the 1943-45 RSI and GNR troops!!

Excuse me, unless I've missed something, there does seem to be an associated tie-in between Toy Soldiers and movies.
How popular would D-Day be among collectors if it wasn't for The Longest Day, SPR, Band of Brothers, etc.
Similarly, Market Garden with A Bridge Too Far.
ETO; The Bridge at Remegen, Battle of the Bulge, Big Red One, to mention only three.
I could go on, but you get the idea. Just my opinion of course, but I do believe that at least some of us do like to recreate what we've seen in the movies (and what we read in books come to think of it). My upcoming Ancient Greek dio will certainly have it's roots in "Helen of Troy" and Mr Pitt's portrayal of Achilles in Troy.
As for WWII Italian Forces - I completely agree that they're long overdue. I've stated on numerous occasions that you can't really have a WWII Desert collection that's truly representative without the W*ps..!! And that's based on a brilliant Italian-made movie that was released a few years ago called; El Alemein

Yep i agree with Harold here.A Bridge too far certainly helped spark my interest in K&C's Red Devils and as he says the same with SPR.Also the film Waterloo makes me want to collect Naps but so far the credit card is resisting.I must confess to never having seen The Sand Pebbles:eek:

I am with you and HtH. For me, it includes the 300 Spartans, Zulu, the 300, Troy, Sparticus, Gladiator, the Charge of the Light Brigade, Sharpe, the Fall of the Roman Empire, the Knights of the Round Table, Ivanhoe, El Cid and Kingdom of Heaven (I could go on:D). Hollywood may frequently get history wrong but they sure make it fun.;):D

BTW, Rob you owe it to yourself to see the Sand Pebbles; try and find the remastered version if you can.

Never seen "The Sand Pebbles".........Shock - horror - faint..!!

The village court shall be convened at 14:00 sharp, blasphemer. Make sure you attend to have your case read out, or else, miserable miscreant..!!
You are innocent until proved guilty of course - but I would advise you to bring your water wings......the village pond level is up this year..!!

Seriously brilliant movie Rob. Helped along by a 19-year old Candice Bergen.
Look out for some all time career-best acting from Steve McQeen - and we even have our very own Attenborough in a supporting role.
The book is pretty good too.

Cheers
