Any ideas on this guy? The person selling it claims it's 200 years old :0

Not too likely that it's 200 years old. There's no record of any cast iron figures from that time, that I know of, and certainly not in that style, which looks to be fully-round or nearly so. It's more accurate to say that it represents a soldier from the 1700's.

The first and major manufacturer working in cast iron, that comes to mind, is Grey Iron, Mount Joy, PA. They produced figures during the dimestore era, up to our entry into WWII, at which time the company took on casting work for the war effort. They had some Continentals in their catalog, though I don't think there was a drummer. I'd have to check O'Brien for more info.

The molds, or "patterns", as they were referred to, still exist, as far as I know, and Grey Iron existed as a subsidiary of some larger company up into the Seventies, I think. They also made other cast iron items; the figures were only one part of the whole catalog.
