This may seem like a "Duh!" statement, but I'm sure the manufacturer is Spanish. These seem familiar to me, from O'Brien's "Collecting Toy Soliders-Collecting Foreign-Made Toy Soldiers". I'll take a look when I get home tonight.

Prost!

I thought maybe Reamsa but they have a different feal to them.

Brad, any luck id'ing??? I can't find my own copies of the books.

Hi, Gideon, I just checked through my copy of "Collecting Foreign Made Toy Soldiers", and couldn't find them. The section on Spain is only two pages--I think it and the section on Argentina were last-minute inclusions--and I'm misremembering having seen them there. I checked some of the other chapters, and the color section in the middle, but still turned up nothing. I do think I've seen similar figures, but now I can't say where. We'll have to keep digging.

It does occur to me that the other Brad-jazzeum-might be able to help. With his interest in the Spanish Civil War, he may have seen something similar to these, in his travels.

Prost!

While I am not an expert on the plastic types they certainly look a lot like Durso to me by the style of the base. Does anyone out there know more about the Durso line?

Dave

Durso were composition. I'm not aware if they ever made plastics and they were a Belgian company. These are just oddballs.

They are wonderful figures though. I intend to part with a group of them and keep some as curiosities.

Hi Gideon,

They are certainly fun figures. I think Durso did some plastic after the war but am not totally sure but will continue to hunt through my books and see if I can find anything on them.

Dave

looking closer at them and handling them, I think they are reamsa but not totally certain.

I agree, Gideon, especially because they appear to be of some Spanish origin.

Prost!
Brad
