I have a solid lead figure, presume to be an Officer in some Highland Regiment, from the Napoleonic era. Bonnet with tartan round the rim, red Hackle, epaulettes, and grey breeches (possibly repainted). No markings on the base, anyone know the maker? Kit perhaps?
54mm scale (64mm to top of Hackle).

Sorry, I can't recognise the maker.

Are there any markings under the base, as thats a help.

But, he is a officer of the 42nd Foot or Black Watch, going on the blue facings and the red hackle.

I hope that helps a bit....

Thanks John, no markings at all, (that would make things too easy!") It is nice to know roughly the Regiment, shame it's not a recognised maker, but no matter. I do appreciate your help. :smile2:

Don't give up yet! I'll check my books at home.

I will say that at first glance, it looks like it might be a kit figure; the oval base reminds me of the base Tradition uses on the model soldier series. On the other hand, though, it appears to be cast in a single piece, which is not usually the case with kit figures.

I'll see what I can find out.

Prost!

Thanks Brad, but the base is perfectly round. (sorry for the rubbish pic). I agree that it looks cast in one piece. I just want to make sure he is not uber-rare before I add paint. (actually, I may decide to leave as is).

Well, I haven't been able to find anything like it in O'Brien, nothing solid or hollowcast, and nothing with an oval base like that. So, I'm still leaning towards a kit of some kind. Has anyone else found anything?

Prost!
Brad

Not looking like it Brad, but thanks anyway. I have some bare castings somewhere, they are new, but Napoleonic solid ones, I will dig them out & compare.
