Hi

I am very new to this:confused:

I have a large number of lead soldiers that I want to idetify so that I can sell them.

Is there a web site where I could identify the different regiments/ uniforms I have. i.e Scot Guards, Beefeaters

Thanks for you help:)

Manchest1,

We have many people here who can identify anything so why don't you take photos and post them here. If you have trouble doing that or just don't want to do it, you can send the photos to me via email and I will post them for you.

Hi Manchest1

Do post the pictures here. You can also contact James Opie in the UK. He has a website there do a google search and you'll find him. He is a world class authority on toy soldiers. He has written a great deal on the subject and will also help Identify things but I think he may charge a fee. But you should post pictures here and I am sure several of the collectors here will help you.

All the best

Dave

Hi Manchest1,

Are there any markings on the bases of the figures? They look like they could be for the following companies to me:

The Mounties could be Blenheim or Marlborough by Frank and Jan Scroby I say this because they are leading off with the opposite foot from Britains.

The others are possibly from Andrew Rose's Bastion Series. I am digging throuh references for the Arab Leigion Band and will let you know what I find.

Other possibilities are Ducal, Trophy and Dorset and Steadfast. If there are any markings on the bases please let us know. Hopefully some one will be able to give you a diffintive identification for them.

All the best

Dave

Dave,

I'm thinking number 4 might be Trophy. What do you think?

Hi Brad,

Thats quite possible they look well painted but I am not 100% sure. I dont have any Trophy dismounted Marching soldiers to compare them to. I am focusing on the bases and the paint quality. Thats why I went for the Rose Minitures and Blenheim first. Still you could well be on to it since that set look like it is painted to a higher standard. The one thats very interesting to me is the Arab Leigion Band set I'd really like to see some more photos of that.

All the best

The base is colored wrong. If anything they look like Steadfast. Right color base and the look of the rifle seems Steadfastish......Michael

Hello Dave,

Yes, that Arab band does look interesting and like you I'd like to see the whole band.

Thanks

so number 5 are canadian Mounties

1. 2 different makers 1 steadfast, no make on others

2. No Make on

3. No Make on

4. Steadfast

5. no make on

Hi Michael,

I just took another look at one of my catalogues and you are right the Trophy has a different color green. So the hunt continues. Hopefully Manchest1 will post some more pictures for us.

Yes indeed Brad, I am very interested in the Arab Band set and would very much like to see more pictures of that one.

All the best

Dave

Hi Manchest1

I think the first set could be from Errol John due to the odd shaped base they produce some figures with that type of base but I cant besure. I will tell you if any of them have anything written on/underside of the base it will be very helpful in identifying them.

All the best

Dave

Number 4 is Heritage Royal Welch Fusliers. I have that set.

I thought they were Andrew Rose's Steadfast set SF33 Devonshire Regiment 1899. I don't have any of Peter Kingsland's Heritage figures to compare them with. If they are Steadfast, they will be marked as such on the bottom of the base. The Royal Welsh Fusiliers should have a red unit indicator on the left side of their helmets.

You could be right. My set does have a red mark on the helmet and a black marking on the back of the collar. They do look like the same castings to me though, I still think they are Heritage figures.

Could your figures be Andrew Rose's Bastion set B13 Royal Welsh Fusiliers? They are virtually the same castings, but have bayonets unlike the Steadfast Devonshires. Although I don't have any Heritage sets (they were only in business for two years, 1988-1990), I do have 7 sets of Kingsland's HM of GB. To me these sculpts appear more Rose-like than Kingsland-like.

No mine are definitely Heritage. They are still unremoved from the original box.
